This is my 15th weekly challenge out of 52. So I was at the farm this morning, looking for something to photograph for my weekly challenge, and the sun was just coming up over the orchard, and all the long grass was like a magic carpet in the light. So I got down on my butt in the long, wet grass and took a bunch of shots, and every single one was completely different, I could not believe the variety of shots available in one little patch of overgrown, dewdrop-laden lawn. Wow. Was lots of fun. : )

Pampas Grass Most people are familiar with the large clumps of lush, grass-like foliage and creamy white feathery plumes of pampas grass (though pink varieties are available too). Pampas grass (Cortaderia) is an attractive ornamental grass that is popular in many landscapes. While they’re extremely easy to grow, however, it’s important to know what you’re getting into before planting pampas grass around the home. Don’t be so quick to plant it simply because it looks good. It’s actually a very fast grower and can become quite large, anywhere from 5 and 10 feet (1.5-3 m.) high and wide, and even invasive.

Golden grass field in the summer mountain, sunset wildflowers. Sunlight passes through the stems, making breathtaking, soothing, glowing view. I couldn't stand it and filmed this golden sunset scattered on the mountain fields of Pirin Mountain, gilding the wild grasses in unique shades. Canon EOS 500D.

Every few years we have an amazing display of bear grass as it blooms across our mountain meadows and forests floors in Montana. Sometimes you just have to slow the world down enough to sit and watch them bloom!

Blooming bear grass! Throughout most of western Montana's open forests and high country bear grass dots the countryside. Beautiful wildflowers, they are a favorite of so many!

Mammoth Peak is at the northern end of the Kuna Crest in Yosemite National Park, very close to CA State route 120. Its summit appears rounded and rocky from the road. Not nearly as popular as the higher peaks in the area, it still provides great summit views and easy access.

Prairies are ecosystems considered part of the temperate grasslands, savannas, and shrublands biome by ecologists, based on similar temperate climates, moderate rainfall, and a composition of grasses, herbs, and shrubs, rather than trees, as the dominant vegetation type.

The Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway is an 84 mile New Mexico Scenic Byway and National Forest Scenic Byway around Wheeler Mountain located in Northern New Mexico. It begins and ends in Taos, New Mexico.

The North Unit is a bit off the beaten path alongside ND Highway 85. Its ruggedness and beauty, and the solitude you'll find in this less-visited unit of the park are well worth the 50 mile drive from Interstate 94.
