Gambus is a musical instrument that originated in the Arabian Peninsula. Various historical evidence shows that this instrument has been used by Arabs since the era of jahiliyah (Pacholczky, 1983: 253). The spread of Islam along with trading activities has brought these musical instruments to various regions in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Asia (Sachs, 1940: 251).
