I sampled the colours from a couple of photos from Ziggy Stardust photo sessions. The pins on the handle are meant to resemble the moon-like circle on David's forehead from the other Ziggy make-up style (not the one with the lightning bolt, which obviously inspired the blade shape). The green of the guard is sampled from Bowie's eyes, which are normally blue, but on this particular photo they appeared green, and I liked the way it looked.
