The Post War increase in birth rate, from 1946 to 1964 when 76 million Americans were born is referred to as the Baby Boom. Baby Boomers, is the term used by the the United States Census Bureau and describes the characteristics and experiences of those born before the Silent Generation and those who preceed Generation X.
