About the animal: Chilean Flamingo, Phoenicopterus chilensis IUCN Status- Near Threatened Their plumage is pink due to their diet, they are white at birth and darken as they age and consume pigments in their food. They can stand on one leg for up to 4 hours, which actually requires less muscle to balance than when using both, meaning they can rest their other leg too, and have greater balance on one leg than two!
