In A True Story, a satire by Greek author Lucian of Samosata, the army of the Moon (which is at war against the Army of the Sun) is composed by extremely bizarre units, like archers riding giant fleas, three-headed vultures, garlic men, and others. Lucian wrote the story to mock people who took old myths seriously, as real stories. The artwork was made with dry pastels on paper. I have the original.
