The Bird Cage Theatre has an amazing history. Once it opened on December 24, 1881 it operated continuously twenty four hours a day, 365 days a year for 8 years. It had a reputation as being the wildest and wickedest place in Tombstone, AZ. Over 140 bullet holes still remain in the building which fits with the legend that 26 people were killed in the Bird Cage Theatre. There have been reports of ghost sightings by both visitors and employees of former prostitutes and cowboys.
