At some point they decided to convert it into its own resort. Wynn sold Mirage, Bellagio and Treasure Island to MGM Mirage, most likely to raise money for his Wynn resort tower, which cost over $2 billion to construct. While building CityCenter, MGM Mirage sold Treasure Island to Phil Ruffin for $775 million; probably to fund the completion of CityCenter.
