Hot Sam opened their doors back in 1966 at Livonia Mall in a Detroit suburb in Michigan. With the popularity of hot pretzels on the rise, the chain grew rapidly to over 200 store in malls across the US. By hte early '70s, Hot Sam became the proverbial hot potato as the founders sold the chain only to see it sold off several more times before dying out as competition from larger companies entering the pretzel game increased.
