Vibrant colors and bold strokes dominate the portrait of poet Charles Baudelaire with a contemplative expression. Abstract elements and a graffiti-like aesthetic are used to create a dynamic and energetic background behind the subject.

I mix drawing in oil pastel with pixels and collage images to form a contemplative scene. The minute sprout of life stretches up from the ground of a planet toward the stars of deep space. Faintly in the nebula above is seen the traces of verdant foliage. Is the sprout a descendant of that life far above, or is the vision in the nebula a prophecy of life to come? This composition is also the backdrop for my poem "At This Time," available on another image.

I'm addicted to the way I feel when I think of you.

This contemplative drawing in pencil, oil pastel, digital collage and digital drawing was executed while meditating on how the unknown presses us each in different ways to form the on-going creation. We can run from the pressures, or fight them, but the third way is to allow oneself to be the saint and hero who transforms the troubles of life to form the universe. A gentle fog lent a mood of introspection to this evocative scene of leafless trees & their reflections in the water. Photographed on an inland bay off of Lake Ontario (one of the Great Lakes). Application of digital filters has helped to produce a soft, grainy glow in sepia tones, giving the image a vintage look.
