Inn-Square Men's Bar in Cambridge, Massachusetts originally started as a men’s only bar (yes, that was a thing) back in 1964. It was as a favorite watering hole for local public works employees, who practically kept the place in business on their own. In the '70s, the bar was sold, and while it was still called the Inn-Square Men's Bar, they added a little 'ladies invited' under the name, and it soon evolved into one of the most well-loved music venues in town. The Inn-Square was a small, warm neighborhood bar with great taste in music, featuring both local and national bands that might otherwise not get to play. Despite the bar's second act being a huge success, the Inn's liquor license wasn't renewed in 1984, bringing an end to the bar.

Whether you went to college in New Brunswick, or Tucson, Arizona, odds are you knew Greasy Tony's well. From the original location in Jersey in '68 to the AZ location that opened in '78, Greasy Tony's served up consistent cheese steaks and pizza for decades until founder Tony Giorgianni died in 2008. Both locations were total dives that spoke to the kind of food they served, and that's exactly how people liked it. Whether you were there between classes for a quick bite or bombed out of your mind at 3am and in need of sustenance to stave off alcohol poisoning, Greasy Tony was there for you. This design came about with the launch of the Tucson location in 1978 and was immortalized on screen when Booger wore one in Revenge of the Nerds

Armadillo World Headquarters (also known as The 'Dillo or Armadillo WHQ) was an influential Texas music hall and beer garden in Austin, Texas. Located in an old National Guard armory tucked behind a skating ring at 525 1⁄2 Barton Springs Road, just south of the Colorado River and downtown Austin, The 'Dillo flourished from 1970 to 1980. The venue officially opened on August 7, 1970, with Shiva's Headband, the Hub City Movers, and Whistler performing, and caught on quickly with Austin's counterculture thanks to the cheap admission and that the hall tolerated illicit drug use. The final concert at the Armadillo took place on December 31, 1980. The sold-out NYE show featured Asleep at the Wheel and Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen.

A whole generation of folks probably know Betty Jane Tavern just from the t-shirt worn by camp counselor Gary in the 2001 satirical comedy film, Wet Hot American Summer, but it was an actual place. Betty Jane Tavern existed in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey, home of the largest freshwater lake in the state, covering about 4 square miles in area. Playing off the heavy influence of the Lenni Lenape tribe of the area, Betty Jane Tavern advertised having the 'best firewater in Lake Hopatcong.' Whether you were looking for a stiff drink or a hot meal, Betty Jane was there for you throughout the '70s and '80s.

This one could be taken several ways, but whatever the case, odds are someone will hand you a drink in fairly short order when sporting this bad boy.

For decades, the Buckskin Tavern was Fredonia, Arizona's local watering hole. The nondescript building sat back on a dirt lot, and utilized a worn out '55 Apache step side as an iconic landmark. With a full bar and package liquors to go, it was a place where locals and travelers along US 89A alike could count on a cold drink on a hot day. And being just five minutes from Utah, a lot of folks crossed the border for a 'real' beer or just to get a bottle of liquor to go on Sunday, back when Utah's laws on alcohol were stricter. The tavern featured multiple pool tables as well as the longest bar in the Southwest which, if you asked the bartender nicely, they would give your drink the home run treatment, sliding it the distance to you.

The naming of Deno’s 6 & 85 truck stop undoubtedly referred to the old two-lane highways this truck stop once served when it was built in 1947, which made it the oldest truck stop in the state. Located in Commerce, Colorado, just outside of Denver, the 6 & 85 wasn't a modern truck stop by any means and rather very old school. There weren't banks of diesel fuel pumps or even a mechanic on site - just a diner-style restaurant and separate bar surrounded by plenty of truck parking. Whether truckers were stopping off to grab a bite before hitting the road again or going to tie one on in the bar before sleeping it off in their rig, Deno’s was a go-to spot for truck drivers for decades, remaining popular right up until their closure in 2017.

Joe. The signature of a book store owner? Name of a Birmingham bar? Sponsor for a late-‘80s adult soccer league team? Yes, yes and yes! If you remember the 1980s and 90s on the Southside of Birmingham, Alabama, then you probably had a drink at Joe (Joe Bar). Or at least you should have. It was originally located in the studio arts building in Five Points South until it burned in 1986. Joe moved to the Lakeview District on 7th Avenue South and eventually a house on 29th Street South.

The Old Waldorf was a live music venue located in San Francisco at 444 Battery St. on the second floor of a building in the Embarcadero Center. The famous club was built out of what was originally a Foster's Cafeteria restaurant, opening its doors in 1976. Despite the brick and glass venue's terrible acoustics, during its time, The Old Waldorf hosted some of the biggest names in the music industry across a wide variety of musical genres. Despite the venue's full event calendar and solid ticket sales, the owner's closed down The Old Waldorf in 1983 and reopened it as The Punch Line comedy club which still occupies the space today. This one is based on the first of only two shirt designs the club ever released which came out sometime in 1978.

The historic beachfront community of Westerly, Rhode Island was first settled by English colonists in 1661 and incorporated as a municipality in 1669, but had to wait until 2017 to get their own pinball bar. For those who don't want to do the math, that's a really long time to wait to flip some flippers. Located at 1 Railroad Avenue, Flip Side featured an array of old school pinball machines, a traditional jukebox full of real live 45s, and over 40 beers to choose from, making it the perfect hang spot for anyone who appreciated the finer things.

In the beginning, Yamagata finds Shotaro Kaneda at Harukiya. Harukiya is a seedy, rundown bar. It is a frequent hangout of The Capsules. It is located just off the Eastern Express Highway in District 17. It is run by an unnamed bartender. After escaping from the military hospital a second time, Tetsuo arrives here to ask the barkeeper for drugs. The barkeeper light-heartedly points out that something is strange about him, but shrugs it off while mentioning that the drugs are costly. Shortly after, Kaisuke and Yamagata walk in to find the bar destroyed and the barkeeper dead, and Yamagata is killed by the unstable Tetsuo during a confrontation.

P.J.’s Hollywood was a Parisian style go go club owned by Bill Doherty, Paul Raffles, Phil Tanzini, and Elmer Valentine, friends and associates from Chicago. They opened P.J.’s in 1961, taking the name from the initials of Paul and his girlfriend, Judy, who had previously run a successful club in Chicago called The Black Orchid. The goal was to create a late night destination that became the place to be when all the other nightclubs called it a night. The clientele was a mixture of celebrities, swingers, and criminals, but once they crossed under the backlit “les Poupées de Paris” (the dolls of Paris) sign, these night owls all had one thing in common – they were looking for a good time.

Not a whole lot of details on Chucks Diner & Billiards out there, but from what we've been able to uncover, it was a joint that somehow managed to walk the line between dive bar and family restaurant. This Huntsville, Alabama establishment was primarily a diner, serving up classic American diner food, but also had a full bar and pool hall, making it the perfect place to go get loaded with the fam and shoot some stick.

It was at the end of 1957 when Seattle finally got its own dedicated jazz club when Pete's Poop Deck opened their doors. Having taken up residence in a former tavern in Pioneer Square on what was then known as Skid Road – named for the greased logs that were laid to shoot timber off First Hill to Seattle’s waterfront mills – Pete's Poop Deck was the place to be for enthusiasts of modern jazz. This low-fi establishment with its dim lighting and apple crate seating quickly grew in popularity and was THE place to take in some jazz music. From local musicians to national touring acts, Pete's Poop Deck was open nightly and promised "carefully calculated confusion," something they delivered on throughout the '60s.

If you attended ASU in the 70s, 80s, or 90s, you most likely remember Minder Binder's and spent more than a few nights there knocking back a few stiff drinks and/or pitchers of beer. This eclectic bar got it's start back in the fall of '69 when Al Ehringer and Bob Scura, two pilots who loved drinking and hanging out with friends, decided that they wanted to open a bar. They were determined to create a destination for the local ASU college crowd, original architect Richard Wilken said. The restaurant was named after the main character in one of the owner's favorite book-to-movie, "Catch 22."

The Peter Hand Brewing Company was an American brewery established in 1891 by Prussian immigrant, Peter Hand, in Chicago, Illinois. The brewery continued to grow and though it was officially closed between 1920 and 1933 as a result of prohibition, the company survived and expanded several times. In 1965, an investor group purchased the brewery and renamed the company Meister Brau, intending to further expand and begin national distribution. The company spent heavily on marketing, particularly in their hometown of Chicago, and sponsored all the local sports teams, as well as a popular radio show. When the brewery closed in 1978, it was the last brewing company in Chicago.
