This is where the original story of The Phantom Of The Opera took place back in 1909/1910 when it was first published and conceived. The Palais Garnier is a 1,979-seat opera house, which was built from 1861 to 1875 for the Paris Opera. The Monument to the Restorers is a monument located in Restauradores Square in Lisbon on the other side of Rossio Square. The square is dedicated to the restoration of the independence of Portugal in 1640 after 60 years of Spanish domination. The monument itself memorializes the victory of the Portuguese Restoration War, which saw the end of the House of Habsburg and the rise of the House of Braganza, The war lasted from 1640 to 1668. After a 2 year restoration between 2001 and 2003, the collection of 47 Victorian era buildings now serve as commercial and residential spaces, entertainment facilities and art galleries. Toronto Fire Station No 227 at 1904 Queen Street East in Toronto Canada was built in 1905 as TFD 17. Station 227, also known as The Kew Beach Fire Hall, originally had a single vehicle bay. In 1960 an addition was built on the west side of the original building. The 24 metre hose tower didn't have a clock until angry local residents demanded one in 1912 :) Original photography from 2013 using a Canon EOS 60D body with a Sigma 17-70mm f2.8 DC Macro OS lens. This is a close-up image of the monumental equestrian bronze statue of King José I (the Marquis of Pombal), which is centerpiece of the Praça do Comércio square in Lisbon. King Jose I coordinated a massive rebuilding effort of the entire plaza and the arch after the great earthquake of November 1755 that was followed by a tsunami and a fire that destroyed most of Lisbon and many other buildings by the river.
