The hammerhead shark is one of the most emblematic marine species of the Galapagos. The Galapagos Marine Reserve is one of the best places in the world to see them. Hammerhead sharks live in temperate and tropical waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. Most adults lead solitary lives, but can sometimes be seen in pairs. However, in some parts of the world, including Darwin Island in the northern Galapagos, several hundred hammerheads band together to form large baby nurseries and get ready to migrate toward the poles for the summer.

The giant oceanic manta ray (Manta birostris) is a species of ray in the family Mobulidae, and the largest type of ray in the world. They are circumglobal and are typically found in tropical and subtropical waters, but can also be found in temperate waters.

The American flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber) is a large species of flamingo closely related to the greater flamingo and Chilean flamingo. It was formerly considered conspecific with the greater flamingo, but that treatment is now widely viewed (e.g. by the American and British Ornithologists' Unions) as incorrect due to a lack of evidence. It is also known as the Caribbean flamingo, although it is present in the Galápagos Islands.

Frigate Birds (fregata magnificens) are a family of seabirds called Fregatidae which are found across all tropical and subtropical oceans. The five extant species are classified in a single genus, Fregata. All have predominantly black plumage, long, deeply forked tails and long hooked bills. Females have white underbellies and males have a distinctive red gular pouch, which they inflate during the breeding season to attract females. Their wings are long and pointed and can span up to 2.3 metres (7.5 ft), the largest wing area to body weight ratio of any bird. As well as along the Pacific coast of the Americas from Mexico to Ecuador, including the Galápagos Islands.

(Tiaris obscurus) Also known as the Darwin's finches. They were first collected by Charles Darwin on the Galápagos Islands during the second voyage of the Beagle. Apart from the Cocos finch, which is from Cocos Island, the others are found only on the Galápagos Islands.

The scalloped hammerhead shark (Sphyrna lewini) is one of the most iconic marine species and the Galapagos Marine Reserve remains one of the best places in the world to see them.

Grapsus grapsus is one of the most common crabs along the western coast of the Americas including the Galápagos Islands. The crab's round, flat carapace is slightly longer than 8 centimetres (3.1 in). Young G. grapsus are black or dark brown in colour and are camouflaged well on the black lava coasts of volcanic islands. Adults are quite variable in colour; some are muted brownish-red, some mottled or spotted brown, pink, or yellow.

The blue-footed booby (Sula nebouxii) is a marine bird native to subtropical and tropical regions of the eastern Pacific Ocean. It is one of six species of the genus Sula – known as boobies. It is easily recognizable by its distinctive bright blue feet, which is a sexually selected trait. Males display their feet in an elaborate mating ritual by lifting them up and down while strutting before the female.Approximately one half of all breeding pairs nest on the Galápagos Islands.3 Its diet mainly consists of fish, which it obtains by diving and sometimes swimming underwater in search of its prey. It sometimes hunts alone, but usually hunts in groups.
