Carpe diem - Seize the day!

Lynnewood Hall is a 110 room mansion that has been abandoned for many years. It is built in the Neoclassical Revival style and located in Elkins Park, PA. The mansion was designed by architect Horace Trumbauer for the Industrialist Peter A.B. Widener. Built between 1897 and 1900 it is considered the last of the Gilded Age mansions in the Philadelphia area. It has 55 bedrooms, it had a large art gallery, a ballroom large enough for 1,000 guests, swimming pool, wine cellars, a farm, carpentry and upholstery studios, and an electrical power plant.

Carpe diem, Seize the day, is probably one of the most known Latin phrase. This quote was written by Roman lyric poet Horace in 23 BC. The full quote reads, um loquimur, fugerit invida Aetas: carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero.

Carpe diem is a Latin aphorism, usually (though questionably) translated "seize the day", taken from book 1 of the Roman poet Horace's work Odes (23 BC).Carpe is the second-person singular present active imperative of carpō "pick or pluck" used by Horace to mean "enjoy, seize, use, make use of". Diem is the accusative of dies "day". A more literal translation of carpe diem would thus be "pluck the day [as it is ripe]"—that is, enjoy the moment. It has been argued by various authors that this interpretation is closer to Horace's original meaning

Horace Julian Bond (January 14, 1940 – August 15, 2015) was an American social activist and leader in the Civil Rights Movement, politician, professor and writer. While a student at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, during the early 1960s, he helped to establish the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). Bond was elected to four terms in the Georgia House of Representatives and later to six terms in the Georgia State Senate, serving a combined twenty years in both legislative chambers. From 1998 to 2010, he was chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the first president of the Southern Poverty Law Center.
