A tribute to the best film director of the world

Pulgasari is a 1985 North Korean dark fantasy-action kaiju film that is loosely based on the legend of the Bulgasari. The film was directed by Shin Sang-ok, a successful South Korean director and producer. Shin, along with his wife, had been kidnapped in 1978 by North Korean intelligence on the orders of Kim Jong-il, son of the then-ruling Kim Il-sung, and was coerced into making several films as a director, with Pulgasari being his final work before he and his wife, actress Choi Eun-hee, escaped their captors. But what about the film? Oh, yeah, here's the gist of the movie: Pulgasari tells the story of an iron-eating Godzilla knock-off who comes to life after being molded from rice and blood (not unlike a Rock).

Oldboy (Korean: 올드보이) is a 2003 South Korean action-thriller film[4][5] directed and co-written by Park Chan-wook. A loose adaptation of the Japanese manga of the same name, the film follows the story of Oh Dae-su (Choi Min-sik), who is imprisoned in a cell that resembles a hotel room for 15 years without knowing the identity of his captor or his captor's motives. When he is finally released, Dae-su finds himself still trapped in a web of conspiracy and violence as he seeks revenge against the enigmatic Lee Woo-jin (Yoo Ji-tae). His quest becomes tied in with romance when he falls in love with a young sushi chef, Mi-do (Kang Hye-jung).

The Good, The Bad, The Weird

Mother is a 2009 South Korean thriller film directed by Bong Joon-ho, starring Kim Hye-ja and Won Bin. The plot follows a mother who, after her intellectually disabled son is accused of the murder of a young girl, attempts to find the true killer in order to get her son freed. The film premiered on 16 May 2009 at the Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section, and was released in South Korea on 28 May 2009. It received critical acclaim from critics, who praised Kim's performance, the direction and screenplay, and the film's uniqueness.

Too intricate and too full of strange imagery to recount in detail, the plot of “Oldboy” takes Dae-su and Mido on a treasure hunt for his enemy that only gets weirder and more violent as the movie progresses. Dae-su finds the building where he was imprisoned by trying the fried dumplings at every Chinese restaurant with the words “Blue Dragon” in the name. (His clue was a scrap of a takeout menu he found in one of his meals.) He reunites with Joo-hwan and comes to suspect Mido, only to trust her again after his enemy reveals himself.

Train to Busan is a 2016 South Korean post-apocalyptic action horror film directed by Yeon Sang-ho and starring Gong Yoo, Jung Yu-mi, Ma Dong-seok, Kim Su-an, Choi Woo-shik, Ahn So-hee, and Kim Eui-sung. The film mostly takes place on a high-speed train from Seoul to Busan as a zombie apocalypse suddenly breaks out in the country and threatens the safety of the passengers.
