The Cape Fear Crocs were a minor league baseball team in Fayetteville, North Carolina. They were a low Class-A baseball team which played in the South Atlantic League, and were a farm team of the Montreal Expos for the franchise's entire tenure as the Cape Fear Crocs. They played all of their home games at J. P. Riddle Stadium and were previously known as the Fayetteville Generals.

In 1977 members of the San Antonia Amateur Football League began work on creating a new minor league football league, they called it the American Football Association. One of the earlier amateur teams, the San Antonio Charros became one of the new league's first teams. The Charros joined five other clubs from Austin, Fort Worth, Houston, Oklahoma City, and Wichita Falls to establish the American Football Association. The team played five summer seasons with a mix of teams coming and going. The Charros won the first championship and played as the Charros until they changed names and became the San Antonio Bulls for the last two seasons.

The High Desert Mavericks were an American Minor League Baseball team in Adelanto, California, from 1988-2016. They played in the Class A-Advanced California League. The franchise had eight different major league affiliations over its 29 seasons.

In 1998, the Will County Cheetahs of the Heartland League moved to Midlothian, IL, where they became the Cook County Cheetahs. Managed by Brian Dayett, they were 23-11 in the first half, a half-game behind the top Tennessee Tomahawks. They were last in the second half at 14-18 but stunned the Tomahawks in back-to-back games in the playoffs for the title. The Cheetahs were last in attendance (10,552) among the clubs that survived the season, the last for the league. All-Stars were 2B Neil Bradshaw (.264) and P Derek Santiago (8-3 with a league-leading 2.17 ERA).

The McPherson Merry Macks were a minor league baseball team based in McPherson, Kansas from 1908 to 1911. McPherson teams played as members of the Class D level Central Kansas League in 1908 and Kansas State League from 1909 to 1911, hosting home games at the County Fair Association Fairgrounds.

Minor league baseball began in Rockford, Illinois with the 1871 Rockford Forest Citys, who were one of the earliest professional teams. The Minnesota Twins arrived in 1963 and set up a new affiliate called the Orlando Twins. The franchise joined the Southern League in 1973. The Twins played at Tinker Field in downtown Orlando, near the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium. In 1990, the team was renamed the Orlando Sun Rays. In 1993, the Chicago Cubs became the team's new major-league affiliate, and the team was renamed the Orlando Cubs. While still a Chicago Cubs affiliate, the team renamed itself once again in 1997 and became the Orlando Rays. The following year, for one season only, the Seattle Mariners were the Rays' major-league affiliate. The Tampa Bay Rays (then the Devil Rays), an American League expansion team in 1998, assumed the Orlando Rays' major-league affiliation.

The Clinton Owls were a Minor League Baseball team based in Clinton, Iowa, United States, that operated in the Illinois–Indiana–Iowa League in 1937–1938 as an affiliate of the Brooklyn Dodgers. From 1939–1940 they were an affiliate of the New York Giants and were known as the Clinton Giants. The team was disbanded at the onset of World War II. Today, the Clinton franchise is the Clinton LumberKings who still play at Riverview Stadium, now called NelsonCorp Field.

The Omaha Cardinals was the name of an American minor league baseball club based in Omaha, Nebraska, from 1947 through 1959. It played in the Class A Western League through 1954 and in the Triple-A American Association from 1955–1959 as an affiliate of its major league namesake, the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Portland Mavericks were an independent professional baseball team based in Portland, Oregon. They began play in the short-season Class A Northwest League in 1973, after the Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League left after the 1972 season and became the Spokane Indians. The Mavericks operated as an independent club in Portland for five seasons, until the return of the PCL in 1978, and played home games on artificial turf at Civic Stadium in Portland.

The San Bernardino Spirit were a Class A minor league team in the California League. The team arrived in San Bernardino in 1987 after relocating from Ventura County, California. The team played as an independent club in 1987 with no Major League affiliation but became associated with the the Seattle Mariners for the 1988 season. The team moved to Rancho Cucamonga in 1993, where they original Spirit franchise would be known as the Quakes. A second Spirit team started that same year in San Bernardino but lacked major league affiliation until 1995 when an agreement was made with the Dodgers and soon thereafter became the Stampede.

The Miami Miracle was a minor league baseball team which was part of the single-A Florida State League in 1989-91. They were the former Miami Marlins who were part-owned by Bill Murray and Jimmy Buffett. They played the majority of their games at Pompano Beach Municipal Stadium before moving to Fort Myers.

The Columbus Jets were a Minor League baseball team that played in Columbus, Ohio, from 1955 to 1970. The team moved from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada where they were known as the Ottawa Athletics. The Jets were a member of the Triple-A International League. The Jets' name came from Columbus' role in manufacturing aircraft by North American Aviation for World War II. They were the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Athletics (1955–56) and Pittsburgh Pirates (1957–70). The Jets played their home games at Jets Stadium.
