The San Diego Padres are an American professional baseball team based in San Diego, California. The Padres compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) West division. Founded in 1969, the club has won two NL pennants—in 1984 and 1998, losing in the World Series both years. As of 2020, they have had 15 winning seasons in franchise history.[3][4] The Padres are one of two Major League Baseball teams (the other being the Los Angeles Angels) in California to originate from the state; the Athletics were originally from Philadelphia (and moved to the state from Kansas City), and the Dodgers and Giants are originally from two New York City boroughs—Brooklyn and Manhattan, respectively.

KMET was a Los Angeles FM station that broadcast at 94.7 MHz beginning in June 1968. As with many stations at the time, KMET featured an automated format with female voices and middle-of-the-road music, but eventually added live DJ's and a free form rock music format. Major changes came about in 1974 to create something new for the struggling station by way of a new rock format that retained some of the station's progressive freedom, but added much needed energy and consistency along with high production values. KMET's new format quickly rose to number one, earning them the nickname "The Mighty Met." The station continued to rock the valley through the '70s and most of the '80 before signing off on February 14, 1987.

Granada Hills was the first Los Angeles neighborhood that I explored for "California Fool's Gold." I didn't actually get around to sketching a map until after the maps that I made subsequently began to garner positive press. I miss Huell Howser!

The Los Angeles Skyhawks was a professional soccer club based in Los Angeles, California, that was a member of the American Soccer League. Founded as part of the American Soccer League's expansion to the west coast in 1976, they were the first professional sports team to be based in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. The ASL expanded in an attempt to compete with the North American Soccer League. Coming into the league with the Skyhawks were the Oakland (later Golden Bay) Buccaneers, Tacoma Tides, Sacramento Spirits, and the Utah Pioneers (later Golden Spikers). These teams formed the Western Division, while the Eastern Division had the established teams New York Apollo, Connecticut Yankees, Rhod

With over 20 locations throughout the San Fernando Valley, Valley Aerobics was a popular fitness chain that focused on, not surprisingly, aerobic exercise. They claimed to help members "find their fierce" and based on the look of this thick thighed woman, she has found hers.
