Sidewalk T-Shirts

I spent a few days in New York at the end of March 2017. I was on the way back to the hotel after having seen 'The Woman in Gold' by Gustav Klimt at the Neue Galerie. It was raining, but after such an amazing visual treat I simply didn't care. Not a lot of people were out that day but that does not go for dog walkers. I saw many of them, some had quite a few dogs with them, as in this photo. Some just leashed up their dogs and waited, cell phone in hand, until the rain stopped. Or maybe they simply didn't want to walk in the rain. The dogs didn't mind.. the ones that did get their walk. March 2017, iPhone 7plus

Although Old Town Alexandria is always beautiful, strolling down King Street early in the morning is especially beautiful.

Famous postcard of Rio de Janeiro, the border of Copacabana acquired the present form in the decade of 70. The landscape design was designed by Burle Marx, who introduced a beautiful mosaic of abstract geometric shapes in Portuguese stone on the sidewalk next to the buildings and on the central bed. The design can be appreciated both at the pedestrian level and from above, from the windows of the apartments on the waterfront. The design, in Portuguese black and white stone, represents the waves of the beach. It already existed in the sidewalk of the beach and has its origin in Portugal, in the Rossio Square of Lisbon. The first California Free Former World Professional Skateboard Championships was held over the Summer of 1976 at the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, California. The event was the largest skateboard competition ever held up until that time, and its significant cash prizes changed skateboarding history, as it created a true professional tier in the sport.

In Dana Point, California, Bill Richards and his son Mark invented the first skateboard in 1958 by attaching a set of roller skate trucks and wheels to a wooden board. The Richards’ began selling their boards at their North Hollywood surf shop for $8 a piece in 1959, calling them 'Roller Derby Skate Boards.' Initially selling about ten a week, sidewalk surfing moved from a niche to a national sensation in the '60s, and by the end of 1965, the United States had over 15 million skaters, and the industry generated $100 million in annual sales. Not bad coming from a single idea hobbled together from existing components in the garage, huh?
