A remaining turret in the walls of Wallingford Castle in Oxfordshire, England. Hard to believe that this was once one of the most powerful castles in England - it was begun by Robert D'Oilly in 1067 on the orders of Wiliam I to control the Thames Valley. Over the years is was expanded and became a royal residence as well as fortress. During the Civil War of the 1100s, Matilda took refuge there. from King Stephen's armies. After the Civil War of the 1600s, it was 'slighted' or partially destroyed.

During WWII, my uncle was either a tail gunner or dorsal turret gunner on Wellingtons or Lancaster's, he was lost over Europe. Seeing my reflections in the tail of CWHM VeRA... gives me pause to reflect.

A Bright Sunny Day In Windsor

During a long drive from Ontario to Colorado, we visited Buffalo Bill Cody's home (Scout's Rest Ranch) in North Platte, Nebraska. It wasn't on our planned itinerary but proved to be a truly fascinating place. This is an image of the house, taken from the east if I recall, It was a blustery kind of day, cool with threatening clouds. It did rain later, What I love about this image is the house standing so proud. It had recently been restored and looked so good painted white and trimmed with green. The house looked so comfortable, surrounded by trees and the turbulent, cloudy sky gives the image so much interest.
