Tinaos are a regular feature in the villages of La Alpujarra. They are arches at crossroads over which the neighbouring houses spread. I like the way this one frames the composition leading the eye down the narrow, cobbled street. There are many interesting streets in Padules, one of the larger villages in La Alpujarra Almeriense, Almeria, Andalucia, Spain. For a painting I particularly liked this scene. The light and shade, textures and colours are perfect for this watercolour and the composition leads the eye down the narrow lane towards the Jasmine climbing up the wall of a house. The Falls of Dochart, situated on the River Dochart at Killin in Stirling, Scotland, near the western end of Loch Tay.

The church of St Laurence in Tidmarsh, Berkshire. The church dates from the 12th century and is notable for its fine carved Norman doorway and unusual 12th century polygonal apse. Inside, medieval wall paintings survive in two of the nave's window recesses. The church is very near the River Pang which flows through the village on its way to join the Thames at Pangbourne.

This canal barge can be found in a man made loch on the Auchlochan Estate in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It can not go anywhere other than circle around the small loch, so in reality, it is an art object. Auchlochan is a purpose build Retirement Village and Elderly Care Home. It has lovely gardens and several man made small lochs. Auchlochan means (the) ‘Field of the small loch’. The current lochs at Auchlochan are man made and no one knows where the original loch was. Some believe it was a reference to the River Nethan which meanders through the estate. Three bracketed JPGs converted to HDR in Photomatix Pro.
