Murrumbidgee River floodplain in Gundagai, Australia. In the background is the one of the longest timber girder road viaducts in Australia (constructed in 1867 then reconstructed in 1898 and now in utter disrepair) and just visible behind it the longest timber howe truss railway viaduct in Australia (constructed in 1903 and now also on the verge of collapse). Both viaducts lead to bridges over the main river channel. All these works were constructed by day labour and supervised by the engineers of the NSW Department of Public Works and are listed on the Engineers Australia Heritage Register.
