Ruins of St David's (1837) Port Arthur, Tasmania, Australia The church was constructed by convict labour, much of its interior joinery and decorative stonework being the work of boys from Port Puer. The wooden spire blew down in 1876 and the building was gutted by fire in 1884. Sections of the church were rebuilt and stabilised in the 1900's (from the Port Arthur historic Site guidebook).
