This shot shows Poole Bridge, which is situated at the western end of Poole Quay (Dorset, England) and links the main town of Poole with the suburb of Hamworthy, the site of Poole's ferry terminals. The bridge was constructed in 1927, replacing an older swing bridge on the same site and it is still in regular use, being lifted 7 times a day to allow maritime craft to pass from Poole Harbour into Holes Bay and vice versa. In the foreground are the Royal National Lifeboat 'City of Sheffield' (a Tyne class lifeboat formerly stationed at Whitby) and the Harbour Police RIB.
