The River Piddle Tank Top

The River Piddle Number of views as of 25th February 2018 = 500. The River Piddle is a small, rural river in Dorset, England. It rises in the village of Alton Pancras and flows a distance of about 20 miles through the villages of Piddletrenthide, Piddlehinton, Puddletown, Tolpuddle, Affpuddle, Briantspuddle and Turnerspuddle before joining the River Frome at Wareham and out into Poole Harbour. The Victorians (who obviously liked taking the 'p***') were responsible for changing the spelling of 'Piddle' to 'Puddle' in some of the village names, though Puddletown was still called Piddletown until the 1950s. The Piddle passes close to the manor house at Athelhampton where it is crossed by a small foot bridge (pictured). Date: 31st August 2014.
