This is a work I made about what toxic positivity feels like when you're in recovery. Always being told "let it go", "you have to forgive to move on", "you're holding on to the past" and other endless blaming statements under the guise of 'positivity.' Baby, you cry, rage, wail, destroy until you get the toxic sludge, grief, sorrow and rage out of your body. You become the nightmare that haunts you if it helps you heal. It's not your burden to carry, you do what you have to to put it down.

Part of this collage includes my favorite photos I took of a tiger crossing a water basin while in India, visiting home. I miss it. It feels as magical as this collage.

I Just love how this turned out. It's amazing how little is needed in terms of imagery to make a complete piece of art, there's no torso or body, just a jacket, hands and crossed calves. Did you know sunflowers originated around 1000 BC in what's now known as Arizona & New Mexico, and were first cultivated as a food source? Then after discovering how to extract the oil for cooking, also used it ofr skin and hair, and the stalk would often be used as a building material. Well, now you do!

Made this collage because I loved the way the original subjects are posing and looking at the viewer from above. Filled it out with images that interested me from individual pages in magazines. Dream until its your reality - for me, that's making a living off my art and financial independence.

I made this collage in tribute to the late Sinead O'Connor and what it feels like being a woman from girlhood on. It's a constant walking violence, constant being told to shut up, shrink, be small, don't protest, don't make noise, don't fight for your rights, don't question. A walking wound, being punished for any way in which you exist. But inside, there are wolves gnashing out, destroying the threads of patriarchy slowly but surely and paving the way with blood, like Sinead.

I love that Frida Khalo defied categorization and adhering to or performing femininity. She was known for her marked defiance of traditional gender roles and often wore both male and female coded clothing. When any person defies labelling or categorization, it frees the rest of us to as well and eventually - creates a culture in which we are all free to be who we actually are.
