Grevillea in the family Proteaceae. Native to rainforest and more open habitats in Australia. They are good bird attracting plants. Honey eaters in particular are common visitors.

The soil gets compacted. Before winter a single ripper went down between alternate rows. This lets moisture from winter rains in. Now its time to pass the cultivator over the ripped rows to dig the grasses back into the soil. We are practicing organic. For a year we had a piano down by the dam - it was decomposing. It was originally part of a sculptural installation by Australian artist Paloma Concierta consisting of 3 Pianos in a shopping centre arranged to facilitate musical conversation.
