Built in 1832, Osgoode Hall at No 130 Queen St W in Toronto Canada sits on six acre of land at what was once the northwest edge of the city. Today it houses the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Superior Court of Justice and is the headquarters for the Law Society of Upper Canada. In 1957 an international competition was held for a design of a new city hall. A total of 520 designs were received from 42 different countries. The winner of the competition was Finnish architect Viljo Revell. In 1965 Toronto's fourth city hall opened and still serves as the home of the city's council. The 27 storey east tower and the 20 storey west tower surround the saucer shaped council chamber. The saddest part of the history of our current city hall is that Revell died of a heart attack at 54 years old just 10 months prior to the opening ceremonies and never got to see his vision completed. Toronto Fire Station No 227 at 1904 Queen Street East in Toronto Canada was built in 1905 as TFD 17. Station 227, also known as The Kew Beach Fire Hall, originally had a single vehicle bay. In 1960 an addition was built on the west side of the original building. Seeing this young mustang out on the range, roaming free made me smile, as this cute little colt is a positive sign that there may be free roaming wild horses for future generations to observe. The elaborate entrance to the British Colonial Building at No 49 Yonge St in Toronto Canada. The first branch of The Bank of British North America in Toronto was built in 1845 at the northeast corner of Yonge and Wellington Sts. The current building, designed by architect Henry Langley, replaced the original in 1875. The main entrance to the building was initially on Wellington Street, but in the early 1900's as Yonge Street emerged as the city’s main thoroughfare, the doorway was relocated to it's present location in 1903. The Allan Gardens Conservatory Palm House at 19 Horticultural Ave in Toronto Canada. The conservatory was built in 1879. In 1902, a fire destroyed the Horticultural Pavilion and parts of the conservatory. It's replacement, the cast iron and glass domed Palm House opened in 1910 and stands on the site today.
