There were Libyan emperors with Syrian wives and Ethiopian army officers, some serving in places as distant from their Sub-Saharan homelands as north of Hadrian's Wall in Britannia. The written, archaeological and genetic evidence is extensive as to the broad multi-culturalism that was the Roman Empire.
