Originally called Outer Drive, it is today known as Lake Shore Drive. The bridge and the road going over it were built to connect parks along Lake Michigan on either side of the river with the parkway system.

The neighborhood is covered under a deep blanket of snow making everything beautiful. While I was walking around my block, I saw this picket fence receding into the distance with every individual picket with a hat of snow.

The fire axe is painted in a vivid color so that it is easily visible in an emergency. It has an axe head at one end and a pointed pick at the other end and is used for breaking down doors and windows. You can see a fireman's axe and a hose on this vintage fire truck.

On a recent cruise to the Bahamas, we took the ferry from Nassau to Paradise Island where we spent a lovely day. These buildings in the typical pastel Caribbean colors were near the ferry slip and were the last thing we saw as the ferry boat pulled away.
