The Reading Company was a Philadelphia-headquartered railroad that provided passenger and commercial rail transport in eastern Pennsylvania and neighboring states that operated from 1924 until its 1976 acquisition by Conrail.

Rock Island Railroad

A jewel of Lancaster County Pennsylvania, the Strasburg Railroad has been operating as a tourist train since 1958. Locomotive 90 is a 2-10-0 built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1924 for the Great Western Railway of Colorado. It was purchased by Strasburg in 1967.

The Pere Marquette Railway operated in the Great Lakes region of the United States and southern parts of Ontario in Canada. It had trackage in the states of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and the Canadian province of Ontario. Its primary connections included Buffalo; Toledo; and Chicago.

This beautiful piece of architectural ornamentation adorns an old brick work building just outside the loop in Chicago. I'm not sure what it is used for now but at one time it was a rail road building.

A wheel that is not made from spokes but a number of box sections is called a 'Boxpok' wheel. You can see these wheels on some of Oliver Bullied's locomotives, including the Q1 locomotive preserved at the National Railway Museum in York.
