Bluebell Wood Number of views as of 21st June 2018 = 310. The merry, merry month of May is a fine time to rediscover those ancient English woodlands, and the carpets of bluebells often found there. This particular wood is not far from the village of Corfe Castle, Isle of Purbeck, Dorset, England. Date: 11th May 2014.

This log cabin is located at the Morris Arboretum in Chestnut Hill, PA. Built in 1908 it was used by the Morris's to entertain guests and to spend hours relaxing on the porch. It has a river stone cobbled chimney which was very popular with log cabins being built in the Adirondacks at the time.

One of several CCC parks in the state, Lee State Park was built in 1935 by the CCC in order to provide riverside recreational opportunities for the residents of Lee County, South Carolina. Along the Lynches River, which runs through Lee County, South Carolina and is partially protected from development by the state of South Carolina, kayaking and canoeing trips can be taken through the park’s hardwood forest floodplain. As we ventured deeper into the forest and tackled the steep incline, I could not miss the ruggedness and contours of these marvellous root systems on the trail. A fellow photographer past me and in an instant I knew I had a shot! For quite some time, I kept going back to the image in my folder and thinking that it was busy and needed simplifying, and so I decided to work on it in post to dig out the textures and contours of the image and simplify and balance the shot... The trunk of the woods and the roots leading into the image, lead the eye into the wild and rugged terrain ahead.

In 1796, the Davidson brothers, John and Robert, came to western Pennsylvania as the first settlers of a heavily wooded valley along the Beaver River. They settled on a 200-acre tract that they received half for settling and purchased the balance for $100. The brothers named the area Wampum, after the traditional shell beads of the Eastern Woodlands tribes of Native Americans. Wampum would eventually attract additional settlers, and hosted one of the few trading posts in the in region, and later, would be a key railroad junction for coal, passenger, and cargo lines. Located 35 miles from Pittsburgh, Wampum remains an out-of-the-way borough with a population under 600, so the sentiment of this '70s era tourist design still holds true today.
