Armistice Tapestries

This piece came about when I was working and trying out a figure drawing, in pen and ink trying to show the muscles under the skin. It was around the time of Armistice Day, and this just evolved .............

They found themselves in the midst of a great meadow of poppies.

A respectful memorial message as the stem of a red poppy flower, similar to the ones that inspired John McCrae to write his poem "In Flanders Field," in 1915, as well as Moina Michael's later response poem, “We Shall Keep Faith.” Along with Anna Guérin, these people helped this flower become a more widely accepted and internationally known symbol for remembering soldiers that had fallen on the battlefield. Inspired by my love for WWI and peace. I love the poem "In Flanders Field" and I feel inspired by it every November.
