A carpet of Spring bluebells growing amongst the trees is a sure sign you are in a centuries old woodland where people have wandered in the forest glades for hundreds of years, surrounded by the same bluebells we see today. If only they could talk!

Sailing in the Arctic seas around Svalbard have lots of attractions. You may be whale watching, looking out for polar bears or simply enjoying the silence of the Arctic landscape and snow covered mountains. An icon of the Teesside steelmaking industry in the North East of England, the 365ft Redcar blast furnace which was constructed in the 1970's last produced steel in 2015 and until 2022 has been seen as a memorial to all those engaged in steelmaking on Teesside. It was finally demolished in November 2022 in an emotional farewell to the last reminder of steelmaking in the North East. This picture of the blast furnace was taken in 2019 at South Gare.

Fitness freak obsessed with gym and fitness

Imagine opening your front door to this view! Blocks of ice like 'mini glaciers' floating past in the Skov Fjord with snow capped mountains in the background. The ice flows down from the Greenland Ice Sheet through Tunulliarfik Fjord and will eventually end up in the Labrador Sea. Roker Pier was constructed in 1868 with the lighthouse being built in 1903. It was all refurbished in 2018 and is now a popular tourist attraction for people visiting Sunderland, as well as being popular with local fishermen.

The comings and goings of ducks and geese on the lake create a series of ripples on the surface of the water. Some reflecting the blue sky and others the dark depths of the lake.

One of the oldest bridges spanning the River Tyne, the High Level Bridge was completed in 1849. It was designed by Robert Stephenson in the early days of the railways to provide a rail link to Scotland. the bridge is still in use and provides an interesting walk for pedestrians heading towards the Castle and Cathedral of Newcastle upon Tyne that can both be seen in the right of the picture. A serene view from Adventfjorden on the island of Spitsbergen in Svalbard, Arctic Norway. The snow capped mountains overlook the town of Longyearbyen in the Norwegian Arctic. The picture was taken on 8th June 2023 when the midnight sun was beginning to melt the snow in Svalbard.

Inspired by the movie Running Man, this is retro, distressed look design for the TV network who host the show.

Getting ready to leave Grosmont Station on the North York Moors Railway, steam engine BR Standard 4MT No. 76079 was built in 1957 and served on British Railways until it was towed to a scrap yard in 1968. Fortunately for those visiting the NYMR it was rescued and restored to original condition. It now regularly hauls passenger trains between Pickering and Whitby across the North York Moors.

Care is needed walking through churchyards and woodlands at this time of year as snowdrops slowly appear from beneath the carpet of fallen leaves to herald the start of Spring.
