Balcony Tapestries

This image is a continuation of a series of images with the same title; they are all about some unfinished construction (or destruction/remodeling) projects that I encountered while walking the streets of Lisbon. Some I thought were quite interesting in their mystery and their purpose; others were intriguing to photograph because of their unusual characteristics. When it comes to these types of works, there is always mystery in the making. All images are taken with a Canon 5D III (full frame) and a Canon 7D II (crop frame) using a variety of Canon L-Series lenses, and Tamron and Sigma pro-line lenses; processed in RAW with ACR, PSC, Photomatix, and a variety of other imaging software. Bern, capital of Switzerland, has preserved its cosy quaintness. From the Nydegg-Bridge you get a wonderful view over the roofs of the city which form an intricate maze of tiles and chimneys.

This is an image of the corner of an apartment building in Rome. If you were looking out of any of the those windows you'd be looking directly at the Trevi Fountain. The fountain is a masterpiece, but then again truly wonderful architecture abounds in Rome. I had already captured as much of the fountain as I needed, so I looked around to see what I had been missing. I was really taken with the simple majesty of this building, I loved the contrast of the ochre-coloured walls and pale yellow of the stonework with the deep blue of the sky. It was getting late in the day with the golden hour setting in, so the building was bathed in golden light as contrasted with the deepening blue of the shaded side of the building.

The San Carlos Institute is a Cuban heritage center founded in 1871 by Cuban exiles who came to Key West to plan the campaign for Cuba's independence from Spain. José Dolores Poyo and Juan María Reyes, two distinguished leaders of Key West's Cuban community, proposed the establishment of an organization dedicated to promoting Cuban cultural values and patriotic ideals.
