Constructed in 1843 and rebuilt after a 1889 addition was almost completely destroyed by a fire in 1961, Little Trinity Anglican Church at No 425 King St E in the Corktown neighbourhood of Toronto Canada is the oldest surviving church in the city. This image, originally captured on film in the autumn of 1987, depicts the Ashness Bridge, in the Lake District National Park, in England. This is a popular spot for capturing images, but it has changed over the years as the view across to Skiddaw and Derwentwater, the mountain and lake in the distance, is now restricted by the abundance of trees that have grown. This image, therefore, represents a historical view. The bridge is a traditional Lakeland bridge, in that the arch does not contain a keystone. Within the park, there are many 'pack horse' bridges such as this, mostly built during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The fact that they still stand after 300 or more years is a testament to their construction.

The idea to build a very very large TV and radio communication structure originated in 1968. After 5 years of planning, construction on the CN Tower began in 1973 and at a cost of $63,000,000, the 553.33 m (1,815.4 ft) tower was completed in 1976 and became the world's tallest free standing structure, a record it held for 34 years. The building was designated a Heritage Property by both The City of Toronto and The Province of Ontario in 1975. In 1957 an international competition was held for a design of a new city hall. A total of 520 designs were received from 42 different countries. The winner of the competition was Finnish architect Viljo Revell. In 1965 Toronto's fourth city hall opened and still serves as the home of the city's council. The 27 storey east tower and the 20 storey west tower surround the saucer shaped council chamber. The saddest part of the history of our current city hall is that Revell died of a heart attack at 54 years old just 10 months prior to the opening ceremonies and never got to see his vision completed.
