Crypt Keeper Tapestries

I based this design on the tales from the cryptkeeper animated show for all the fans out there of the cartoon

The Old Witch is the primary host of the Haunt of Fear comic book series and was one of three hosts of the Tales From The Crypt series along with The Crypt Keeper and The Vault Keeper. She also appeared in the '90s era Tales From The Cryptkeeper animated series. Her name was revealed as Fran in the '90s paperback, "Jokes From The Crypt." Her origin story, "A Little Stranger," appeared in Haunt of Fear volume 1, issue 14, and here we have her poised behind a tombstone with the classic Tales From The Crypt comic masthead over it along with the years of the comic book series run from 1950 to 1955.

Tales from the Crypt were one of my favourite shows as a kid, so it was only fitting to include this classic into my inktober 16

The Tales From The Crypt - Arthur Grimsdyke design is inspired by the classic British horror anthology directed by Freddie Francis and produced by the legendary Amicus Productions. In the film, five strangers (Joan Collins, Ian Hendry, Robin Phillips, Richard Greene and Nigel Patrick) encounter the mysterious Crypt Keeper (Ralph Richardson) in a crypt, and he tells each in turn the manner of their death. In the fourth episode, Peter Cushing plays Arthur Grimsdyke who is slowly driven to suicide on Valentine's day by a pair of resentful neighbours, only to return from the dead a year later to get his vengeance.

A mock cover for TL Bugg Comics' Tales of the Unlikely. This design is inspired by the EC comics and all the imitators that came long in magazine form later, Warren Magzines and their contemporaries. The splashes may not have always made sense, but that was half the fun imagining what was inside.
