Used car lots have always had some reputational issues to deal with, even back in the early days of the automobile. While certified used cars are quite common today, the 'OK Used Cars' program was Detroit's attempt at combatting negative opinions about buying a used car by creating the first certification program. 'OK Used Cars' had completed a series of tests before being certified, including a thorough inspection, complete servicing, and several points of reconditioning. The certified vehicles would be added to the lot with a warranty included, something that was previously unheard of with a used car. The program was a success, and would grow and evolve, but by the '50s, the 'OK Used Cars' sign could be found at car lots in everywhere.

Orford Ness Island is a site of Special Scientific Interest. It is a 16km long shingle spit, that is now a wildlife reserve. A large part of The Ness was acquired by The War Department in 1913. The Central Flying School's Experimental Flying Section was based here in 1915 which began a 70 year period of intense military experimentation leaving scars on the landscape as well as giving the island a mystique of secrecy. Its headquarters were located in Houston, TX, and its subsidiary company, Frontier Refining & Marketing, Inc., was located in Denver, Colorado. Frontier's primary products were gasoline, diesel, and asphalt, and were marketed in the Rocky Mountain and Plains States. Frontier Oil owned refineries in Cheyenne, Wyoming and El Dorado, Kansas. This design is based on the classic red signs that adorned their many affiliated gas stations in the markets they served which all included the famous Frontier Cowboy on his horse.
