Iron Age Tapestries

This design is based off the enigmatic symbols of the Picts -- a Celtic-speaking people who lived in Scotland. This symbol is commonly referred to as the crescent and v-rod, although the exact meaning behind the symbol is not completely known.

A contemporary Celtic design I produced this for my book The Crafter's Design Library - Celtic in 2002.

Inspired by European ancestors art, the picture is created following the bear design from the Ural region from Iron Age. The bear is the master of the forest and has always been the spirit animal for European people.

This design is based off one of the most famous panels of the Gundestrup Cauldron. It depicts the god-- often identified as Cernunnos-- holding a torc in one hand and a snake in the other. I've recreated the design in my own style making a unique take on this famous piece of Celtic/La Tene art!

A contemporary Celtic design inspired by the motifs found in the early mediaeval illuminated manuscripts such as the Book of Kells and the Lindisfarne Gospels. The difference here is that women were rarely depicted in early Celtic art.

The three-age system is the periodization of human pre-history into three time-periods: the Stone Age, the Bronze Age, and the Iron Age.
