One of the more famous sites on the Isle Of Skye, in Scotland, is the Old Man Of Storr. The Storr is a rocky hill on the east side of the Trotternish peninsula. The Old Man, the tallest of the rock pinnacles on the Storr, is easily recognizable from many miles away on the eastern side of Skye. The area is another remnant of ancient landslides (locally called landslips) on the island.

The Old man of Storr, Isle of Skye. The 160ft the Old Man of Storr (in Gaelic ‘Bodach an Stòrr’) is the most famous of the rocky basalt pinnacles which dot the landscape.

The Isle of Man is a beautiful island, located in the Irish Sea between the islands of Great Britain. It was back in 2006 that I visited the Isle Of Man, and found myself at this very tranquil tram stop. I had ridden the tram from Douglas out to Laxey, and felt every vibration through the wooden seat as it trundled at little more than walking pace. Here I've tried to capture the dappled sunlight, the calmness and the historic tram system that rattles along this side of the island. Rendered in oil paint on a 16x12 inch board.
