Druridge Bay in Northumberland is seven miles of beautiful beach between Cresswell in the south and Amble in the north and is almost deserted for much of the year. This image was taken on a bright October morning looking North towards a cloudy blue sky reflected in wet sand left behind by the retreating tide.

Early December morning on the beach at Druridge Bay in Northumberland, North East England with the sky still showing dawn colour as well as the blue of daytime. With a bit of imagination, the walk along the beach looks as if it is leading to warmth on the cold winter morning.

This serene image captures the tranquil beauty of Druridge Bay, where the vast expanse of golden sand is met by the calm North Sea. The clear blue sky is reflected in the tranquil pools of water nestled among the sand dunes. The peaceful atmosphere and solitude of the beach is enhanced by the emptiness of the beach, which is only occasionally visited by a few tourists.

This image was taken on a bright September morning looking North over still water left by the retreating tide and reflecting the clear blue sky; it seemed as if there was only me and my dog for miles.

Despite the frigid temperature, groups of swimmers braved the chilly morning to take a dip at Cullercoats Bay on the North East coast of England. The crystal-clear water was calm and reflected the stunning orange hues of the sunrise, creating a breath taking view. The silhouetted swimmers bobbed in the serene ocean, enjoying the peacefulness of the early morning.

Robin Hood’s Bay lies in the ancient parish of Fylingdales. The name itself is believed to be derived from the Old English word ‘Fygela’ which meant ‘marshy ground’. The first evidence of man in the area was 3000 years ago when Bronze Age burial grounds were dug on the high moorland a mile or so south of the village. These are known as Robin Hood’s Butts. Some 1500 years later, Roman soldiers had a stone signal tower built at Ravenscar about the 4 th century AD.

The North Yorkshire Coast is one of my favourite places to visit and, of course to paint. This acrylic work shows Runswick Bay a popular spot for dog-walkers and fossil hunters alike. The subtle colours will work anywhere and the piece almost has the feel of a watercolour.

The sea stack in Collywell Bay, Seaton Sluice, Northumberland is known locally as Charlie's Garden from the time when it was much bigger and the top was alive with vegetation. This image was taken on a cold, clear December morning as the rough seas were splashing around the stack, (and over the shoes of the photographer!) and then converted to black and white to emphasise the drama.

A beautiful clear blue Northumbrian sky and the soft sands of Druridge Bay made for a perfect May spring morning. Just the sky and the sand produce something which is both simple and beautiful at the same time.

This image was taken on a cold, wet and stormy November morning as the rough seas were splashing around the stack giving a good example of why it is constantly eroding.
