Oklahoma Salt Plains ©Debra Martz Located in northern Oklahoma near the towns of Cherokee and Jet, and within the Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge, you will find over 11,000 acres of salt flats. A new location is marked off each year for the public to dig for Selenite crystals between April 1 and October 15.

On 16 September 1941, the 45th Infantry Division was federalized from state control into the regular army force. It was one of four National Guard divisions to be federalized, Assigned to the division were the 158th, 160th, 171st, and 189th Field Artillery Battalions. On 1 September 1950, the 45th Infantry Division was activated as the first National Guard division to be deployed to Korean War.

I love watching these playful Wrens. So much so that I decided to be playful with the editing for this one. We have several of these that visit our back yard, sometimes running around the patio, up on the chairs, checking out the grill, the feeders and everything in between. I was out hiking the Eagle Roost trail in search of birds but the dragonflies were more abundant at the beginning of the trail. Being a bird watcher more than a dragonfly watcher, I struggle with IDs but always try and find the correct one or at least hope to get close. With the use of several ID apps and online insect websites, my conclusion is this is a Great Blue Skimmer, immature. Please feel free to correct or suggest another ID in the comments. Thank you. Pops 66 Soda by Debra Martz Travel along route 66 in Arcadia, Oklahoma and you will find this 66 foot tall soda structure weighing in at 4 tons. The stop includes over 600 varieties of soda displayed on a glass wall, restaurant, gas station and curio shop. Snowy Egret Performance by Debra Martz It might look like a performance but it's their attitude about territory that gets them up in the air and running sideways like this. Incoming one wanting to take over the fishing spot where the other was being successful. If there are several in close proximity, you will most likely get a show like this! Captured below the spillway at the Great Salt Plains State Park in northern Oklahome. Sparrow In The Pines by Debra Martz We were out hiking in Yellowstone in late summer to enjoy the amazing landscape. Then I heard this little Clay-colored Sparrow sing. I looked up and around a bit and then there it was. The 45th Fires Brigade is a modular field artillery brigade of the United States Army headquartered in Mustang, Oklahoma. It is a part of the Oklahoma Army National Guard. The unit was again redesignated 45th Fires Brigade in 2008 with the implementation of Army Transformation. Just as the 45th IBCT and the 90th Troop Command, the brigade retained the shoulder sleeve insignia of the 45th Infantry Division, only designing and approving its own SSI in 1997.

The 171st Field Artillery Regiment is a military unit created from part of the "B" Battery of the 1st Battalion of the 45th infantry division of the United States Army. It was raised in 1963 and is now based at Weatherford, Oklahoma forming part of the 45th Fires Brigade of the Oklahoma Army National Guard. Remaining representatives have been engaged in US anti-terrorism campaigns.

Angry Egret by Debra Martz Snowy Egrets are fun too watch as they are full of attitude! They are quite territorial, too, when it comes to who's fishing where! The lower, angry looking Snowy was going from side to side of this penisula chasing off other snowies! The American White Pelican just carried on with its fishing.
