The Southern Giant Petrel (Macronectes giganteus), also known as the Antarctic Giant Petrel, Giant Fulmar, Stinker, and Stinkpot, is a large seabird of the southern oceans. This petrel is the largest of the Procellariidae and measures 86–99 cm (34–39 in) with a wingspan of 185–205 cm (73–81 in). The male weighs approximately 5 kg (11 lb) and the female 3–8 kg (6.6–18 lb). Canon 500D, zoom lens.

A sub-adult Bamboo Shark (Chiloscyllium species) sits with its snout and nostrils pointing out towards the current ~ drifting towards him in the South China Sea! With an extremely strong sense of smell ~ these 'connoisseurs' of the Ocean ~ hunt at night and use their snout to dig out crustaceans, mollusks, tunicates, sea snakes, and other fish ~ particularly stingrays. These particular sharks have large throat cavities used as a sort of bellows valve ~ to suck in their prey! Side-striped Jackal, Canis adustus, scavenging at night. Maasai Mara National Park, Kenya, East Africa. The Side-striped Jackal is a small canine hunter and scavenger. Much smaller than the hyena it is up to 70 to 80 cm in length, plus another 30 40cm for the tail, and weighing around 7 to 12Kg. The Side-striped Jackal stands around 40 to 50cm high at the shoulder. Marabou Stork, Leptoptilos crumeniferus, known as the undertaker bird. The Marabou stork is 4 to 5 feet, 1.15 to 1.5 m high. The wing span is close to 9 feet, 3 m. The marabou storks head is nearly bald and scab encrusted. This makes it cleaner for the marabou stork to eat carrion without getting its feathers blood soaked. A pendulous flesh colored gular sac hangs below the throat when inflated and indicates sexual maturity.
