This is an outline of the State of Utah with a photo taken from the Kayenta trail in Zion National Park in southwest Utah, near Springdale.

Of two sections in Refrigerator Canyon to hike, the easiest and most common is part of the trek to Angel's Landing or the West Rim Trail. The path goes directly up the canyon, following a series of paved switchbacks that lead visitors to the scenic outlooks. The lower canyon is a technical route, with three rappels, including one over 190 feet. The route is short and sweet, with some pools to avoid and significant down-climbing. While it may not be the most popular of routes, Refrigerator Canyon is a great option for quick descent on a hot day.

Zion to me felt like a place that was never meant to be seen or touched by humans (and it wasn't - the Mormons who moved in didn't realize they couldn't stay there and were flooded out come Spring). I kind of love that about it... it's SO brilliantly beautiful but nobody can ever stay there. Even now the park closes for part of the year due to snowmelt and flooding. I wanted to capture some of the otherworldliness of that park, with these ghostly structures built by some alien hands that outsmarted the planet.
