This is an image of St. Genevieve, the Patron Saint of Paris (in the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox traditions). Her feast day is kept on January the 3rd. The statue is situated on Pont de la Tournelle in Paris. The sculpture is perhaps one of the most important symbols of Paris. Born in 423 in Nanterre, Genevieve was the daughter of a city magistrate. Fervent believer from an early age, she recovered after her father’s death and moved to Paris. When she was 20, she was ordered by the Bishop of Paris a “Consecrated Virgin”.
