The Church of Sao Domingos (Igreja de São Domingos) is a Catholic church located in the Baixa District of Lisbon, Portugal, in a small square known as Largo de Sao Domingos. The area is a popular meeting area for the Portuguese African population. The church has always had a strong African connection with, traditionally, the priest originating from Africa, and was able to support new immigrants during their transition into Portuguese life style. The church is classified as a National Monument. The Baroque church was dedicated in 1241 and was, at one time, the largest church in Lisbon which hosted Portuguese royal weddings.
