As a reference for this painting I've cropped a few of my Monet's Garden photos right down so just the water, lillies and reflections are showing. This was quite a challenge trying to get the willow reflections and the ripples on the water. On the weekend I greyed off North Head & reduced the size of the closer edge of Middle Head. I hope I've created a better feeling of distance! Completed in the Sojie 18 abstract workshop. Often a storm from the south will come up after a hot summer day to cool everything down for the evening. The seagulls go a bit stir crazy & everyone leaves the beach to get home before the storm. Oil on primed matboard - 25.x 35cm Lake Cathie on the mid north coast of NSW The sand had built up & closed over where Lake Cathie flows out to the surf in March this year. A couple of months ago we had a combination of very high tides & a huge swell & the water came flooding over the sand bank in the late afternoon. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to open up a channel again, so the water had dried up again the next day.

It was a bright spring morning at Leura in the NSW Blue Mountains. I think it will make a nice house warming present for Elisha The surface of the matboard was very textured from the pumice mixed into the primer. Hard pastels were used to do an underpainting, then soft pastels to finish.

Gouache on A3 size Arches smooth watercolour paper Original SOLD Fishermen built this stick bridge from Frenchs island in Gogleys Lagoon, across the creek to Dunbogan on the NSW mid north coast in the 1950's. The "big" flood of the Camden Haven River in 1963 washed away the cottages & not surprisingly the bridge.
