Camden Town Bridge, London City, UK This iconic bridge in Camden Town really caught my eye and lets you know exactly where you are in London City. Camden Town is famed for its market, a warren of fashion and curiosities by the Regent’s Canal. A haven of counter culture, the area is popular with tourists, teenagers and punks. The thriving nightlife scene includes live music in alternative clubs and old-school pubs, and major stars playing at the Jazz Cafe and the Roundhouse. Cafes bustle during the day. Mean Machine, Blue Car In Havana The front end, bumper or fender depending on where you live, really does look very moody and mean. If it could talk I'm sure it would have told me off for taking it's photo. American cars were imported into Cuba for about 50 years, beginning near the early 20th century. After the Cuban Revolution, the U.S. embargo was erected and Castro banned the importation of American cars and mechanical parts. That's why Cuba is the way it is today—essentially a living museum for classic cars. Straw Field, Lincolnshire Wolds This stunning dramatic cloudy blue sky really offsets against the golden hues of the wheat field. Huge bails of straw remain from this wheat field at harvest time on the Lincolnshire Wolds. Worn Groyne At Sandsend Beach, Yorkshire, UK I really liked the erosion on this Groyne so I just had to take this photograph. A groyne is a rigid hydraulic structure built perpendicularly from an ocean shore or a river bank, interrupting water flow and limiting the movement of sediment. Groynes are examples of hard coastal protection structures which aim to protect the shoreline from coastal erosion. A more detailed treatment of the effects of groynes is given in Groynes as shore protection. You’ll find Sandsend is another village of which the Cleveland Way passes through, a great trail to walk if you fancy a trip to the neighbouring town of Whitby or Runswick Bay village. Sandsend Beach Sandsend beach is popular with fossil hunters, fishermen and walkers. In summer an area of the beach is zoned off for swimming. Honister Slate Mine Sculptures Honister Slate mine is at the top of the Honister Pass in Borrowdale in the Lake District. You can watch slate being riven (or split) using processes that have changed little over the past 300 years. The Honister Slate Mine in Cumbria is the last working slate mine in England. Quarrying for Westmorland green slate has been taking place in the area since 1728. Apart from the mining it is also a popular tourist attraction in the Lake District National Park. Ashness Bridge, Cumbria Ashness Bridge is a traditional stone-built bridge on the single-track road from the Borrowdale road (B5289) to Watendlath, in the English Lake District, Cumbria. The brisge is at grid reference NY270196, and is known for being a fine viewpoint across Borrowdale towards Skiddaw, including views of Derwent Water nearby. It or its predecessor may have been a packhorse bridge conveying packhorse traffic from Watendlath to Keswick. Near the bridge is a small cairn to Bob Graham, who ran a round of 42 Lakeland peaks in 1932 (in under 24 hours), a record which was not equalled for 28 years. The High Bridge Over The River Witham, Lincoln The High Bridge, built over the River Witham in around 1160, is the only Medieval bridge in England with houses still on it. Stokes High Bridge Cafe sits above and this photograph is taken from the back of the cafe which has a Tudor facade.
