Hitting the air in 1936, XERB was an early 'border blaster' station at 730 kHz on the AM dial. While broadcasting from across the border on Mexico's Baja peninsula, at Rosarito Beach, near Tijuana, XERB was operated as a Los Angeles radio station and packed massive power giving them coverage well beyond Los Angeles and the Inland Empire as well as most of Northern Mexico. As part of the North American Regional Broadcasting Agreement in 1941, the station moved from 730 to 1090. In 1965, Wolfman Jack moved to XERB and quickly turned it into 'Big X Soul Monster Radio' with his legendary mix of rowdy rock, raw rhythm and blues, and verbal antics.
