The Scottish Deerhound is one of the giants of the dog world! Standing at an average of 30 inches tall, these rough-coated sighthounds were originally bred by native Scots to take down the wild red deer. Historically, they were known as the Royal Dog of Scotland and have earned a reputation as brave, regal, and noble. They’re an affectionate breed, although they have a strong prey drive so not always recommended for homes with small animals or small places like apartment because of their size.
