Every year for over 100 years there is a Gypsy Horse Fair in Appleby, in the Lake District of England. It is attended by about 10,000 Gypsies and many more visitors and lasts for about a week. There is a big Campsite with caravans and a lot of Gypsy vardoes and many stores selling all sorts of things. Horses are bought and sold and part of the tradition is to take them down to the River Eden and wash them, so that they are in their best condition for selling.
